- Stock Tudor Tapestry
-
An exclusive mixture of wonderfully fragrant, spicy-clove garden stocks. Plants are dwarf, with a branching habit and produce short compact flower spikes in five classically Tudor colors: appleblossom, pink, purple, red and silvery-blue. Plants are selectable for 100% doubleness. See sowing instructions for details. Fantastic in patio containers or exposed sites where their perfume pervades the air.
Height: 10 inches; Type/hardiness: Half-hardy Annual; Prefers sun or part shade; Flowers: Early to late Summer
- Sowing:
- Germinate from February to April at 60F on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Apply a layer of vermiculite, ¼ inches deep. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days.
PLEASE NOTE: Plants can be selected for doubleness. After germination, reduce the temperature and the seedlings will change color. Only the yellow-green/palest seedlings will produce double flowers, simply discard others and you will result in 100% double seedlings.
- Growing:
- Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle into trays or 3 inch pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for at least 14 days before planting out. Plant outside after all risk of frost, 12 inches apart, or grow in 3 inch pots indoors.
