- Four O'Clock's Broken Colors
-
Remarkable trumpet-like flowers in a range of colors, all splashed or marbled in cerise-red. The well branched plants are full of small buds which break open in the evening and early morning, releasing a wonderful fragrance.
Height: 20 inches; Type/hardiness: Half-hardy Annual; Flowers: Summer
- Sowing:
- Germinate from February to May at 64-68F on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite, just covering the seed. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 7-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.
- Growing:
- Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle, into 3 inch pots and grow on in cooler conditions for at least 10-15 days before planting out. Plant outside after all risk of frost, 12 inches apart.
