- Lettuce Buttercrunch
-
The crispiest, crunchiest tender leaves, with a closely packed compact head. When full grown it does not, like other lettuces, run quickly to seed but waits until you are ready to eat it.
Type/hardiness: Vegetable; Cropping in 65 Days (Summer-Fall)
- Sowing:
- Sow thinly from spring to mid summer ¼ inch deep in drills 15 inches apart. A moist well drained soil which has had plenty of compost during the previous fall is best. In very hot weather it's best to water the soil before sowing and to make sowings during the early afternoon.
- Growing:
- Thin out gradually to 12 inches apart.
- Aftercare:
- Harvest when the head feels firm when gently pressed.
