- Cucumber Eureka
- One of the best varieties for pickling. Excellent all round disease resistance with many uniform fruit borne on vigorous plants.
Type/hardiness: Vegetable; Cropping in 57 Days
- Sowing:
- Sow in April ½ inch deep in a good free draining seed compost. Germination takes 6-14 days at 75F.
- Growing:
- Transplant when large enough to handle into 3 inch pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatize to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 18 inches apart in a sunny, sheltered spot in rich, well drained soil.
- Aftercare:
- Keep well watered if the weather is dry. When the plants have made 7 true leaves remove the growing point to make them produce side shoots. Commence liquid feeding from mid-July onwards and pick the fruit as soon as they reach full size. Regular picking will encourage further cropping.
