Penstemon Lilac Frost
Hardy and resilient, this attractive Penstemon makes a versatile border perennial, with a continuous display of unusually colored blooms right through the summer months. Quick and easy from seed. Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil in full sun.

Height: 18 inches; Type/hardiness: Hardy Perennial; Prefers full sun; Flowers: Summer; Zones: 7,8,9,10

Sowing:
Sow February to April. Place seed on the surface of a good free draining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 59-68F. Germination can take 1 to 6 months, but is often quicker. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.
Growing:
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for 10 to 15 days before planting out after risk of frost, 24 inches apart. Plants will prove hardy if wet winter conditions are avoided.
