- Larkspur Kingsize Scarlet
- The best red Larkspur has arrived, not only that but it is kingsize too! Giant spikes of vivid scarlet blooms make a brilliant cut flower and are imposing for bedding or back of the border. Kingsize Scarlet will surely create a talking point.
Height: 48 inches; Type/hardiness: Hardy Annual; Prefers full sun; Flowers: Summer
- Sowing:
- Sow April to May or September to October. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 1/8 inch deep, in rows 12 inches apart.
Alternatively, sow in late summer in 3 inch pots in a cool greenhouse and then overwinter plants in cool, well lit conditions. Plant out the following spring after all risk of frost, 12 inches apart in full sun.
- Growing:
- When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 9 inches apart.
- Aftercare:
- Prefers a light, well drained soil in full sun.
