- Spinach seeds : Tetona F1 Hybrid
A very productive variety producing bright green, smooth, rounded leaves available for picking over a long period.
Slow to bolt, and ideal baby leaves for salads.
Tetona also features excellent downy mildew resistance, especially important for spring and autumn sowings.
- Sowing:
Sow in well prepared, fertile soil, in broad drills.
Allow 30cm (12 inches) between rows.
- Growing:
If 'baby leaves' are required then no thinning is necessary, for larger plants thin to 5cm (2 inches) apart.
Sow 'little and often' avoiding hottest summer periods when most spinach will bolt freely.
Water regularly during spells of dry weather.
Growing Spinach between taller plants such as Sweetcorn will offer shade and result in better quality in warm summer weather.
- Aftercare:
Prefers moist, well-drained soil.
Harvest April to July, or Sept to Oct with cloches to extend season.
