Radish Duro
The giant amongst radishes! The shining red, pure white centred roots are almost 4in in diameter and are unique in remaining crisp, fresh, firm and spicy in flavour. Duro has high resistance to skin disease and cracking, definitely gives you value for money, with a long growing period of spring to autumn. The first of its kind.
Sowing:
Radishes grow well in most soils but prefer rich, moist free draining soils. Sow at regular intervals from early spring to early summer into well cultivated soil. Sow very thinly ½in deep in drills 6in apart. Temperature 60-68F. Germination 4-10 days.
Growing:
Plant out seedlings 1-2in apart. Water during dry spells. For sowing later in the summer choose a moist cool spot in slight shade to prevent running to seed. To extend the season they can be sown in fall again from mid winter onwards through to spring in a greenhouse, coldframe or cloches. Sow very thinly and keep moist and ventilate freely at all times. Days to maturity: 25.
