- Primula x Candelabra Hybrids
- An exciting wide ranging mix of these fascinating Primulas which have spikes of very delicate florets appearing in whorls up the stem in a wide range of colours. Thrives in sun or shade.
- Sowing:
- Germinate at 15-20C (60-68F), higher temperatures may hinder germination. Sow on the surface of a good free-draining, damp seed compost. Apply a very fine sprinkling of vermiculite, however do not completely cover seed. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place in a shady position. Keep compost moist but not wet, germination usually takes 10-30 days. Once a number of seeds have emerged, sprinkle a tiny amount of sieved compost or vermiculite over the roots to anchor them.
- Growing:
- Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots, grow on in a cool position giving plenty of water. Plant out where they are to flower in autumn 23cm (9in) apart.
