Sow late winter to mid spring or fall at 60-65F in a good seed compost. Keep soil damp but not wet. Do not exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 14-28 days.
Growing:
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions. Later plant out 12-15 inches apart in sun and ordinary well drained soil. For greenhouse pot plants, transplant the seedlings into 3 inch pots, grow cool, well ventilated and give plenty of light.
Aftercare:
Overwinter fall-sown plants in a coldframe and plant out.
