Rocky Mountain Columbine
Possibly the most beautiful Aquilegia of all. With glorious light to deep blue flowers 2-3 inches across sometimes fetching bi-colored with white. An excellent border perennial, grand for cutting, in bloom for several weeks and will grow in sun or light shade. Flowers late spring/early summer. Height: 12-24 inches.

Sowing:
Sow spring to mid summer in a free draining seed compost just covering the seed with compost. Germination can take from 1-3 months at 60-70F, to speed this up seal in a polythene bag after sowing and leave in a refrigerator for 3 weeks then place in warmth 60-70F. Inspect regularly and remove if any start to germinate in the f ridge. Transplant when large enough to handle into 3 inch pots. Move to a coldframe or plunge the pots up to their rims in a sheltered site outdoors and plant out in the fall, 12 inches apart in moist well drained soil, sun or part shade.
