Bellflower Amethyst
A selection of the species with erect stems and many large, amethyst flowers.
Sowing:
Sow from February to July on the surface of a good seed compost. Germination can take 1-3 months at 65-70F. Don't exclude light, keep the compost moist but not saturated, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful.
Growing:
Lower the temperature after germination and when large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to boxes or 3in pots. When well grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out 18-24in apart.
Aftercare:
They prefer full sun and a rich, well drained soil.
