Aquilegia x hybrida Firecracker
A striking selection by a breeder, offering a long succession of blooms In an explosive combination of cerise-pink to red and canary- yellow. The crowning glory is the highly decorative, bright yellow anthers.
Sowing:
Sow on the surface of a good seed sowing mix. Make sure that the mix is moist but not wet, and seal in a plastic bag until after germination which usually takes 30-90 days at 15-20C (60-70F). Sometimes slow to germinate. If no germination after 8 weeks, pre-chill for 3 weeks.
Growing:
Transplant when large enough to handle into 9cm (4in) pots and grow on cool and well lit. When plants have grown large enough, harden off and plant out 12in (30cm) apart in moist well drained soil, sun or part shade, after last frost but at least 8 weeks before first fall frost.
