Rocket Turkish
A darker leaved variant of this popular herb from times past, which is now enjoying a long-awaited revival. Leaves are a fantastic, tasty addition to many dishes, not just for its pleasantly mild peppery flavour but also its shape and texture. Sow from April to August.
Sowing:
Sow thinly, ¼ inch deep in drills 18-24 inches apart in soil that has been raked to a fine tilth. When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to 9-12 inches.apart.
Growing:
Harvest young leaves as required, picking only a few from each plant. Pinch out flower buds to prolong cropping. Sowings made in late summer will carry on cropping into winter if given protection by cloches.

SERVING SUGGESTION - Rocket can be used as a tasty lettuce substitute in salads, or lightly cooked as you would spinach.
